GHOST HOUND

Plot Summary:
This world we live in, the “Apparent World” had another counterpart since long before the cyber age. From ancient times, people referred to it as the “Unseen World.”
Taro, Makoto and Masayuki are three junior high school boys who live in Suiten, a small town in a remote region of Northern Kyushu. Each one experienced a trauma in their childhood they could not erase. Because of this, or of other reasons, they all learned to traverse to the Unseen World, by slipping their souls.
Ghosts dwelling in the Unseen World, did never manifest in the Apparent World. However, the Unseen World was going through an adverse change.
And now, that change is starting to extend into the Apparent World…

Story
What we have here today is an anime of horror. Unlike other horror stories which focuses on those spiritual things, this story includes neurology, psychology and Japanese folklore. These aspects produced a great series, however way more complicated story.
At the beginning, I have no idea what is happening, whether the story is about spiritual or psychological. As the story continues, you’ll notice bunch of unfamiliar terminologies, mostly neurological and psychological terms, as example O.B.E. – Out of Body Experience. I suggest to have wikipedia prepared.
I spent almost a month to finish the series because once I was getting bored of it, because watching this series is so tiring. I have to focus on the story and their conversations. By the way, the story is kinda dull before mid-way.
Therefore, most people would drop this series because they’re unable to get into the story. I’m (almost) one of them too. Once you get into the story, you’ll find the story is actually very interesting.
I’ll have it rated: 35/40

Animation production by infamous anime studio Production I.G. The anime has superb artwork. The precision of the details are amazing, especially the background images and minor details of them. They used pale colour tone for the anime, thus increases the creepy mood when “those” things happens.
The characters has more realistic/human-like design. Each character has different “design” which shows each others characteristics. As for the spirits, I wonder why all the spirits are animal’s and their appearance are so weird… Aren’t there any human’s spirit? By the way, the designs are very odd…
Overall, brilliant animation by Production I.G. as their 20th Aniversary production.
I’ll have it rated: 26/30

The opening song is simply awesome, I would say it is the most perfect song for this anime. Spooky tune and two thumbs up for the vocalist for singing it. Whereas the ending song is calming one, nothing really special about it.
The soundtrack, well, the anime barely has any soudtrack played. Only during certain scenes especially when those “things” happens… Despite that, during the climax, the soundtrack creates a perfect mood for the situation… which creeps me out before… yeah for real.
I’ll have it rated: 15.5/20
